Ira M. Garonzik, MD : Neurological and Spine Surgery

Dr. Ira Garonzik completed his neurosurgical residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital after earning his medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine Summa Cum Laude and his undergraduate degree with highest honors from Johns Hopkins University. During his training, Dr. Garonzik completed specialized fellowships in complex spinal surgery and functional neurosurgery. Upon completing his training, Dr. Garonzik served as an assistant professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Bayview Medical Center for several years.

Dr. Garonzik is the founder and president of the Baltimore Neurosurgery and Spine Center which began in 2005. The Baltimore Neurosurgery and Spine Center specializes in the comprehensive treatment of a wide variety of intracranial and spinal disorders, including brain and spine tumors, degenerative spine disease and spinal trauma. Our practice also exhausts all non-surgical treatments prior to offering surgical interventions. Dr. Garonzik is widely published, having authored more than fifty peer reviewed articles, book chapters and abstracts. He is an active member of numerous professional societies, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and North American Spine Society. Dr. Garonzik is the Director of Spine Surgery program at Sinai Hospital as well as the Chief of Neurosurgery at Northwest Hospital. Dr Garonzik was awarded the prestigious Dr Otenasek faculty-teaching award by the neurosurgical residents at the Johns Hopkins Hospital.
